Bhupi is an incredibly talented mehendhi artist. She combines a rare blend of old school tradition with modern trend-setting design. Bhupi's art seems to capture the spirit of the person she is decorating and the work almost becomes an extension of that persons natural being. The mehendhi design looks like it was "made" for that person.
Bhupi was born in Africa and has lived in England, India and now Canada. We feel that this has given her a unique perspective on the world and its cultures. She is able to translate that into her art. You can feel the "world" influence in her designs.
Bhupi was featured on the BBC's Heaven and Earth Show and she was given the opportunity to showcase her designs on a national television broadcast. Her art is influenced by her interest in the latest trends in fashion and Bollywood cinema. She also studies the old traditional techniques and designs so she appreciates the roots of the tradition and the need to remain true to the ancient philosophies.
Jane has spent a lifetime drawing and painting – on walls, canvas, cardboard and paper, on glass and on faces - and her constant doodling in notebooks helped her survive elementary school, high school and university. Her undergrad degree was in Visual Arts and was a graphic designer. She truly looks forward to using her love of drawing and design to make people happy with henna.
Though she is currently an engineering student her heart has always belonged to the arts. For as long as she can remember she has been drawing, creating and designing. Kyla comes from a very diverse artistic background, ranging from graphic design and paper-craft to being a professionally employed screen printer and potter.
Madison has been taking visual arts for three years in high school and continuing in Grade 12. She loves and breathes art and dance. She can transfer her feelings and emotions into her work as she finds it theraputic and relaxing her.
She has receieved several hennas over the years from Bhupi and has been intrigued by this traditional art ever since. She was thrilled to start working with the Henna4You team and cannot wait to put smiles on peoples faces with this job.
Hannah is a third year biology student at the university of Guelph. After graduation she intends to go into a career that combines her love of science and art.
Hannah has been drawing and painting as long as she can remember. She did her major in art in the international baccalaureate program at her high school and did a six hour henna tattoo on a fellow classmate as her final project. She has been buying henna from Bhupi and Henna4you for almost a decade now and enjoys being able to work with her
